Westhall is set in approximately an acre of ground that contains a large flat lawn which is ideal for family gatherings, weddings parties or just simply sitting and relaxing.

To the rear of the property there is a south-facing patio which in the summer months comes complete with a sheltered gas barbeque area which is a wonderful suntrap and absolutely perfect for a cook-out.

If you're travelling with children, you'll have peace of mind knowing that they are safe whilst they play in our grounds. The property is situated 350m from the connecting road, up our private driveway and, as is typical of Victorian properties of this stature, surrounded on all four sides by a stone wall.

Cosy Downstairs Living Rooms...

On the ground floor there is a sitting room with comfortable leather sofas and a traditional open fireplace. After a busy day out at meetings or experiencing Shetland's visitor attractions, this room is perfect for sitting down with a book or simply enjoying some quiet time in front of our cosy Shetland peat fire.

Across the spacious entrance hall is the dining room in which we serve an excellent breakfast choice including fresh Shetland fish and are only too happy to cater for any guests with special dietary requirements. View a sample breakfast menu here [PDF format; 26Kb filesize].

Peaceful First Floor Bedrooms...

On the first floor there are two large double bedrooms.

Both rooms have large double beds, a full height wardrobe to help keep your clothes wrinkle free and there is a drawer unit to keep all your other items easy to find. Tea and Coffee making facilities are included and there is a remote control colour tv for catching up on world affairs.

Both double bedrooms are ensuite with mains pressure showers that provide plenty of zest to get you up and running in the morning and if that doesn't do it, the unrestricted views from the Breiwick room, out over the entrance to Lerwick Harbour and the island of Bressay ought to!

The Sands of Sound room has either a king size bed or can be converted to two singles with ensuite bathroom facilities. Shower over bath. Freeview TV and free Wifi.

The sea views from this room are onto the Sands of Sound beach or south to the Island of Mousa and on a clear day Sumburgh Head.

Wireless broadband is provided free of charge in all rooms.

Westhall Cottage

From January 2010 a two bedroom cottage will be available if you prefer self catering. This cottage is being built on the footprint of an original But and Ben cottage with an extension to the rear.

The cottage was originally referred to as the offices for the big house, being accommodation for the family who worked on the farm.  It is being sympathetically rebuilt in a style acceptable to the Listed Building Planning and will have excellent facilities to make your holiday in Shetland one to remember.

The Cottage will have views to the east over to the Island of Bressay and to the west over the Sands of Sound beach.

Sit outside on the patio on a summers evening, listen to the sounds of the sea lapping onto the shore, the tyriks and gannets diving for fish and smell the fresh seaweed lying on the rocks. Hear the seals talking to one another in the late evening or early morning.

Surrounded by all this wildlife and farm animals and only 5minutes from the centre of Lerwick where else would you want to spend your summer holiday?
